You’ll find Captain Josh at the helm of The Getaway, sharing his passion for fishing and the Gulf Coast with every group that steps aboard. A Tuscaloosa native and graduate of the University of Alabama, Josh is a lifelong fisherman who fell in love with saltwater fishing at a young age along the Gulf Coast.
Captain Josh began his deckhand career in 2010 and joined Getaway Charters in 2012. Through years of hands-on experience and dedication to the craft, he became a full-time captain in 2018 and proudly took over ownership of the business in early 2023. As a first-generation charter fisherman, he has built his career on hard work, deep local knowledge, and a genuine love for being on the water.
Known for his easygoing personality and ability to connect with everyone he meets, Captain Josh creates an enjoyable experience for anglers of all skill levels. As a father of three boys, he’s especially great with kids and families, while still bringing a competitive edge that serious anglers appreciate.
Whether you’re chasing trophy fish or simply making memories on the water, Captain Josh is dedicated to making every trip with Getaway Charters one to remember.
Gary Sanford
Captain Another Getaway
Captain Gary Sanford leads the way aboard Another Getaway, bringing decades of hands-on fishing experience to every trip. He first fished the Gulf in 1970 and has been running boats as a captain since 2001, building a lifetime of knowledge on the water. Having fished the waters of Orange Beach on everything from small boats to large offshore vessels, Gary offers extensive expertise in local fishing grounds and techniques that help create successful and enjoyable days on the water.
Captain Gary joined Getaway Charters in early 2021 and has been a valued member of the team ever since. Known for his steady approach, strong work ethic, and dedication to providing guests with a great fishing experience, his versatility and depth of experience make him a trusted captain for anglers of all skill levels.
When he’s not on the Gulf, Gary also enjoys freshwater fishing and is especially skilled at catching crappie — a passion that reflects his well-rounded love of fishing in all forms.
Cory Mistrot
Captain & Deckhand The Getaway
Cory Mistrot serves as both captain and deckhand aboard The Getaway, where he plays a key role in creating successful and memorable fishing trips. Since joining Getaway Charters in early 2022, Cory has quickly become an invaluable part of the team through his dedication, work ethic, and passion for the sport.
Having fished his entire life and worked on boats from a young age, Cory brings deep hands-on experience and an unmatched enthusiasm for catching fish. He’s always eager to learn new tactics and techniques, constantly working to improve and elevate the fishing experience for our guests. His knowledge, drive, and attention to detail have helped raise the level of fishing across the company.
Raised on the Gulf Coast, Cory feels right at home on these waters. He now holds his captain’s license, and you’ll begin seeing him running select trips as he continues to grow in his role with Getaway Charters.
Whether he’s assisting on deck or at the helm, Cory is committed to making every trip productive, enjoyable, and one to remember.
Tristen Boley
Deckhand Another Getaway
Tristen Boley serves as deckhand aboard Another Getaway, where his energy, dedication, and love for fishing help create an outstanding experience for every group on board. Originally from South Florida, Tristen grew up fishing from a young age and developed a deep connection to life on the water early on.
After spending a season fishing in Orange Beach, Tristen had plans to return to South Florida — but thankfully, he was introduced to Getaway Charters and has been a valued part of the team ever since, joining in early 2022.
Guests especially appreciate Tristen’s attentiveness and patience with children. As a proud father to a young daughter, he has a natural ability to connect with kids of all ages and help make their time on the water fun, comfortable, and memorable.
When he’s on deck, Tristen brings focus and drive, with a true passion for putting fish in the boat and keeping things running smoothly aboard Another Getaway.
